The Phone Scene Wasn't Enough

News that made me happy today, via Deadline:

Breaking News… Matt Damon is in early talks to star for director Cameron Crowe in 20th Century Fox’s We Bought a Zoo. Damon’s in talks to play a man who moves his family to England to operate a zoo. The script by Aline Brosh McKenna is based on the memoirs of Benjamin Mee and Fox is pulling together a production start to release the film in late 2011.

I am an unapologetic Cameron Crowe fan, but even I can admit that Elizabethtown was a swing and a miss. It’s been a long wait for a new project, but the possibility of having Damon on board is very encouraging. (Compare this to the casting arc for E-town: Ashton Kutcher to Orlando Bloom. Even if nothing comes from the Damon talk, Crowe is still aiming higher right out of the gate.)
